1 How "Killers" (The Movie) is like many American churches

I saw "Killers" tonight and it was okay.  Ashton and Tom Selleck were fun to watch, but the writing was really, really bad.

Modern shorthand would go somewhat like this: "All style and no substance" or "All sizzle and no steak."

Churches commit a multitude of worship design sins, but one (this is macro) is to build a service around loud music and big video screens (in this movie this is played by gunfire and car chases) without bringing new understanding and deeper faith through the services.

Unlike in "Killers" the fact that everything isn't going right behind the pizazz likely isn't going to be brought to our attention by a gun wielding, mustachioed Tom Selleck.  We're going to have to go to God, instead.
